Ingredients
- 2 cups plain flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 stick butter or margarine
- 3 Tbsp cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup crisco oil
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Icing
- 1 stick butter
- 6 Tbsp milk
- 3 Tbsp cocoa
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts

Preparation
Step 1
Mix 2 cups flour and 2 cups sugar in a large bowl; set aside. In a saucepan, mix 1 stick butter, 3 Tbsp cocoa, 1 cup water, and 1/2 cup crisco oil; bring to a boil and pour over sugar and flour mixture while hot. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp soda, 2 eggs, and 1 tsp vanilla; beat thoroughly and pour into a greased and floured 9x13" pyrex pan (batter will be thin). Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
Icing
Bring 1 stick butter, 6 Tbsp milk, 3 Tbsp cocoa to a boil. Remove from heat and add 1 box powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 cup chopped nuts. Cake can be iced while hot.
