Ingredients
- 5 lb hamburger
- 2 lb dark red kidney beans
- 1 large onion-diced
- 2 1/2 lb tomato sauce
- 10 oz tomato paste
- 1/2 c cumin
- 1/2 c chili powder
- 3-5 t garlic powder
- dash paprika
- 1/4 t red pepper (more or less to desired heat)
- 2 T SALT
- water to thickness

Preparation
Step 1
brown hamburger and onions in a large soup pot--drain
add all other ingredients and stir well.
add water to a consistency thinner than you will ultimately want, because as the chili simmers the excess water will boil off. I prefer to make chili early in the day and let it simmer for at least 5-6 hours.
depending on how long you let it simmer, you may need to add additional water as the day goes on.
