Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 t butter--softened
  • 2 c (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 oz) condensed milk--divided
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 1 c vanilla or white chips
  • 3 t peppermint extract
  • 1 to 2 drops green food coloring

Step 1

line a 9 inch square pan with foil;grease teh foil with butter and set aside. In a heavy saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and 1 c condensed milk over low heat. Cook and stir for 5-6 minutes until smooth. remove from heat and add vanilla--stir for 3-4 minutes or until creamy. Spread 1/2 the mixture into prepared pan, refrigerate for 10 minutes until firm. Set remaining mixture aside.

In a heavy saucepan, melt white chips and remaining milk over low heat until melted and smooth (this will be thicker than the chocolate mixture). Remove from heat and add teh peppermint extract and food coloring--stir until creamy. Spread evenly over the chocolate layer. Chill 10 minutes until firm.

Heat remaining chocolate mixture that was held in reserve and spread over mint layer.

refrigerate overnight. cut into squares and store in the refrigerator.
