Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 2 pkgs refrigerated crescent rolls or puff pastry
  • 1/4 lb. thinly sliced ham
  • 1/2 c. Cheddar or Swiss cheese, grated (skip if using a cheese sauce)
  • Fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 8 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt; pepper to taste
  • 1/4 c. chopped red pepper
  • 2 Tbs. sliced green onions
  • 2 tsp. butter
  • Cheese Sauce:
  • 2 Tbs. butter
  • 2 Tbs. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. Swiss cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Heat the cream cheese and milk in the microwave for around 1 minute. Stir until smooth. Add the eggs, salt and pepper, red pepper, and green onions to the milk mixture. Whisk well. Melt the butter in a skillet. Add the eggs and cook over medium heat, stirring often, until the eggs are set and still moist.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Unroll the crescent rolls; do not separate. Place both on cookie sheet, pinching together to seal. Cut the edges into strips which are 1 1/2" apart and 3" deep.

Arrange the ham over the middle of the dough. Layer the mushrooms, eggs, and cheese. Braid.

Bake 30-35 minutes. Cool for five minutes; cut in slices to serve.
