  • 1 1/2 (11-ounce) packages caramel bits
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag pretzel rods
  • 4 (4-ounce) bars semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • Melted white chocolate (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium saucepan, combine caramel bits and cream. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.

Working over saucepan, spoon caramel over pretzels, letting excess drip off. Place pretzels on prepared baking sheet, and freeze for 15 minutes or until caramel is firm.

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, microwave semisweet chocolate on HIGH, in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth (about 1 1/2 minutes total). Working over bowl, spoon chocolate over caramel-dipped pretzels, letting excess drip off. Return pretzels to parchment paper-lined baking sheet, and let stand until set.
