Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
- (if omitting nuts and additional 1/2 cup chips)

Step 1
Heat oven to 350. Spray 13X9 pan with Pam.
Combine b. sugar, shortening, milk and vanilla in a bowl. Beat at medium speed until well blended. Add egg; beat well.
Combine flour, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl, then beat into shortening mixture until just blended. Stir in choco chips and nuts.
Press dough onto pan.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned in center. Do not over bake. Place pan on cooling rack.
