Ingredients

  • 9 ounces drained, sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup melted margarine
  • 4 8-ounce cans tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1/2 pound lasagna noodles
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 pound shredded mozarella cheese

Step 1

Saute mushrooms, green pepper, garlic and onions in butter. Add beef and brown. Drain. Blend in tomato sauce, paste, oregano and basil. Simmer 20 minutes. Meahwhile cook noodles according to package directions; drain. In 9 x 13 pan layer half the noodles, half the meat sauce mixture, half the mozarella and half the Parmesan cheese; repeat, ending with Parmesan cheese. Bake at 375 degrees about 30 minutes.

Can be made a day ahead, but leave off last cheese layers and add right before baking.
