Ingredients
- 12 large cabbage leaves
- 1-1/2 pounds ground beef
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 15-oz can tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup water

Preparation
Step 1
Cover cabbage leaves with boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain.
Combine next 7 ingredients and 1/2 can tomato sauce.
Place equal portions of meat in center of each leaf. Roll up and fasten with toothpicks.
Place in a large skillet. Stir in remaining tomato sauce, sugar, lemon and water. Simmer 1 hour.
