Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup lard or shortening
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 5 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cruched corn flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 egg wites
  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 - 3 Tbsp. lemon juice

Preparation

Step 1

Pasrty:
combine flour, 2 Tbsp sugar and salt. Cut in shortening untill pieces resemble peas. Beat together egg yolk and milk. Stir into flour mixture untill moistened. shape into 2 balls. Cover and chill for 1 hour.

Filling:
Mix apples, 1 1/2 cup sugar, corn flakes and spices. On loghtly floured surface roll out chilled dough to fit into 10 x 15 pan, pressing up te sides.
Spoon filling evenly over pastry. rollout remaining dough. Place on top of filling. brush the top with the whipped egg whites.
Bake @ 350 for 45 minutes.
Remove from oven. Cool.
In bowl combine powdered sugar and enough lemon juice to make a drizzle. drizzle over top.
