Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp evoo
  • 1 tbsp garlic, grated
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp red chile flakes
  • 2 1/4 pounds flank steak
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 bunch thinly sliced scallions
  • 2 lime wedges

Preparation

Step 1

In small saucepan heat oil. Add garlic and ginger and cook over moderately high heat until garlic begins to turn golden. Add soy sauce, sugar, red pepper flakes and cook stirring until syrupy, about 3 minutes. Let cool. Preheat grill pan, season the steak with salt and pepper and grill for 10 minutes (for rare) turning once. Transfer steak to cutting board and slice thinly. Serve on plate with sauce poured over, scallions on top and lime on the side.
