Ingredients

    cup water

  • 2-1/2

    Cups of bread flour

  • 1

    TBSP white sugar

  • 1

    tsp salt

  • 1-1/2

    tsp yeast

  • 1

    egg yolk

  • 1

    TBSP water

Directions

Mix all ingredients in mixer with break hook until well mixed.. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead into ball and place in well oiled bowl covering all sides. Let rise about 30 minutes or until doubled in size. Punch down dough on lightly floured surface and roll into a 16 x 12 rectangle. Cut dough in half creating 2 8 x 12" rectangles. Roll up each half tightly starting at 12" side punching out any air bubbles as you go. Roll gently back and forth to taper the two ends. Place 3" apart on greased baking sheet. Make deep diagonal slashes every two inches. Cover and let double in size about 30 to 40 minutes. Mix egg yolk with water and brush over tops of loaves. Put in preheated oven at 375 and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
