Ingredients

  • 1 cup soft margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together shortening, sugar and eggs. Mix flour, cream of tartar,
soda
and salt with the first mixture. Chill dough. Roll the dough in
balls the
size of small walnuts and roll the balls in a mixture of 2
tablespoons sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie
sheet. Bake
8-10 minutes at 400 degrees until slightly browned but still soft.
These
cookies puff up at first and then flatten out with crinkled tops.
Makes 5
dozen 2 inch cookies.

Note....With my oven I lowered the temperature to 375 degrees and
baked for
about 10 minutes. You will have to judge for your oven.
