Ingredients
- 1 envelope dry yeast
- 1 1/2 c. warm water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 7 c. flour
- 1/4 c. shortening, at room temperature
- Powdered sugar for coating

Preparation
Step 1
Sprinkle yeast on warm water; stir to dissolve and let stand 5 minutes.
Add sugar, salt, eggs, and evaporated milk. Whisk or use electric mixer to blend thoroughly. Add 4 c. flour; beat until smooth. Add shortening; gradually add remaining flour. Cover and chill at least 4 hours or overnight.
Roll out dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut in 2 1/2-3" squares. Fry 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels and dredge in powdered sugar.
**Dough can be cut and then frozen.
