Wild Rice Chowder

Ingredients
- 8 bacon strips diced
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cup cooked wild rice
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 2 cups cubed american cheese

Preparation
Step 1
in large sauce pan cook bacon until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon to drain on a paper towel. Reserve 1 Tbsp. bacon drippings.
Saute onions in drippings until tender. Stie in flour and salt. Gradually stir in water and broth. Bring to a boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes. Stir in cooked wild rice. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer 5 minutes. Add milk cheese and bacon. Cook and stir until heated and cheese has melted.
To add meat; can add browned ground turkey or chicken
