Ingredients

  • You can freeze these morsels, unbaked, up to one week. To serve, let stand 10 minutes. Remove crusts, quarter slices, and bake as directed.
  • 1/2 lb. cooked ham, coarsely chopped
  • 1 small onion, quartered
  • 8 oz. extra-sharp Cheddar cheese, coarsely chopped
  • 1 1/2 Tb. prepared horseradish
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (16 oz.) loaf very thinly sliced sandwich bread
  • paprika

Preparation

Step 1

Position knife blade in food processor bowl; add ham and onion. Process until finely chopped. Remove from bowl; set aside. Add Cheddar cheese to processor bowl; process until finely chopped. Return ham and onion to processor bowl. Add horseradish and next 3 ingredients; process just until mixture begins to form a ball. Spread about 1 Tb. mixture on each bread slice. Place slices on ungreased baking sheets; cover and freeze about 20 minutes or until spread is firm. Remove crusts; cut each slice into 4 squares. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Remove from oven; serve immediately.
