Ingredients
- ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
- ½ cup shortening
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (if using self-rising flour, omit cream of tartar, soda & salt)
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 400. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, 1 ½ cups sugar and the eggs. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape the dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. (Try to make them the size of small walnuts.)
Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll the balls in the sugar-cinnamon mixture and place them about 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. (The cookies puff up first, then flatten out.) Immediately remove the cookies from the baking sheet.
Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
