Ingredients

  • 4 servings
  • 2/3 cup navy beans, picked over and rinsed and soaked overnight
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp. molasses
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 1/2 tbsp. Splenda brown
  • 3 strips thick-cut bacon, cut into 1/2" pieces

Preparation

Step 1

Combine beans and water to cover and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover partially and simmer 45 minutes to 1 hour. Drain.

Combine beans and remaining ingredients, including salt, in small bean pot.. Cover and bake at 290° for 6 hours, checking every hour or so to ensure that they don't need more water.
