  • 2 lbs. beef stew meat cut in 1-in. cubes
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled, cut into chunks
  • 5 medium carrots, peeled, sliced
  • 2 medium onions,sliced
  • 2 stalks celery,sliced
  • 1 can (10 1/2-oz.) beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup minute tapioca
  • 1 tablespoon brown bouquet sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Step 1

In 3-qt. casserole place beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, broth, water, tapioca, brown bouquet sauce, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Mix together very thoroughly. Press chunks of meat to submerge under liquid. Insert temperature probe so tip rests on bottom of dish, halfway between center and side. Cover tightly with plastic wrap, arranging loosely around probe to vent. Attach cable end at receptacle. Microwave at Automatic Simmer 6 to 8 Hours. Stir before serving.

How to cook Basic Beef Stew by Time Cooking
In casserole microwave stew meat with beef broth and water at MEDIUM (5) for 60 to 70 minutes, stirring after 30 minutes. Mix in vegetables and other ingredients and continue cooking 40 to 50 minutes, stirring gently after 20 minutes until meat and vegetables are tender.
