Preparation
Step 1
In a drink mixer, stir together club soda and simple syrup. Add half of the mint leaves and, using a muddler (or the end of a large spoon), gently and slightly press leaves into the liquid (don’t completely crush leaves, just press them momentarily to release their flavor). Add the whiskey. Fill a cup with crushed ice and stir (traditionally, these cocktails are served in a silver goblet, but a glass will work just fine). Fill with cocktail mixture, garnish with remaining mint sprigs, and insert short straw. Sip and enjoy!
Hint: If you use a straw, Mint Julep connoisseurs recommend keeping it short so that your nose gets as close to that minty goodness as possible, increasing the pleasure of each sip!
