Ingredients
- 10 large cabbage leaves
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/3 cup uncooked rice
- 1/4 cup onion, minced
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 onion, sliced thinly
- 1 can chicken or beef broth (I used chicken)
- 1 large can diced tomatoes
- juice from 1 lemon (or 2 tablespoons)
- 2 teaspoons salt, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper, divided
- 1/2 cup brown sugar

Step 1
1. In a large saucepan, layer about 10 large cabbage leaves. Pour water over the cabbage to cover. On high heat, bring to a boil. Remove from heat, cover and set aside for 5 minutes. Drain.
2. Combine beef with rice, minced onion, eggs, 1 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper.
3. Place 1/3 cup of meat mixture in cupped part of each cabbage leaf. Fold over sides of cabbage leaf; roll up. Layers rolls in cooker seam side down.
4. Top with sliced onion.
5. Mix broth, tomatoes, lemon juice, remaining salt and pepper and brown sugar. Check for seasoning and adjust as desired. Pour over rolls. Cover and cook on high 4 hours.
6. Serve rolls with sauce poured over the top.
