Ingredients

  • 3 large Vidalia onions or other sweet onions, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Preparation

Step 1

Sauté onion in butter in a large skillet on medium-high heat
until tender. Combine onion, cheese, and remaining ingredients;
stir well. Pour into a greased 1 ½- quart casserole. Bake,
uncovered at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until bubbly
and golden. Serve dip with tortilla chips or assorted crackers.
Yield 4 cups.
