Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/4 cup oleo
- 1 1/4 cup dark Karo syrup
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 Tablespoon anise seed
- 2 Tablespoon boiling water
- 4 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

Step 1
Crush anise seeds and pour boiling water on it and let it set until you need it. If there are any really long stems, take them out.
Mix up dough. Chill dough for a couple of hours. Then roll long skinny rolls and cut off pieces. Put on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes.
Dough will be sticky. I just roll a short piece at a time and cut off about 1/2 inch pieces. It's best to scrape your paring knife on a dish or something like that. This makes quite a few little cookies.
