  • 1/2 cup green split peas
  • 1/2 cup yellow split peas
  • 1 large carrot, diced
  • 1 large parsnip, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 shallots, minced
  • 4 ounces 98% fat-free ham steak, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon hickory liquid smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried chervil
  • 5 cups water

Preparation

Step 1

Place all ingredients into a 4-quart slow cooker. Stir. Cook on low for 12–15 hours.

If the soup is wetter than desired, uncover and cook on high for 30 minutes before serving.
