Ingredients

  • 2 medium yellow onions, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3-4 pound boneless pot roast (or substitute sliced flank steak or stew meat)
  • 1 1/2 cups mixed dried fruit
  • 1 1/2 cups dried apple rings
  • 3/4 cups pale ale or apple juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Place the onions in the bottom of the slow cooker. Place roast on top. Cover with the mixed dried fruit. Mix the remaining ingredients and pour over the roast. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours. (Or 4 hours on high.) Remove the bay leaf before serving.
