Baking Powder Biscuits
This is my favorite biscuit recipe. They come out so tasty and fluffy! Just as southern and homemade as you can get!

Details
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Sift flour, powder and salt together. Cut in shortening (butter) and stir in milk. Knead gently 10 times on a floured surface. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness, keeping uniform. Cut with a biscuit cutter and place on a baking sheet, close for soft-sided biscuits and further apart for crusty biscuits. Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden.
***Do not twist the cutter as you cut the biscuits. It seals up the biscuit and keeps it from fully rising.
*** For cheese biscuits, add 1/2 c grated cheese and back for 12 minutes. Watch carefully as not to burn.
