Easy Christmas Flowers

Give traditional Christmas cookies a twist with this flower-inspired treat recipe to serve at holiday parties this year.

- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup red colored sugar
- 40 small green gumdrops or green candy-coated milk chocolate pieces

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl stir together cookie dough and flour until combined (knead dough with hands, if necessary to combine).
Shape dough into 40 about 1-inch balls. Flatten balls into 1 3/4-inch rounds. Roll in colored sugar to coat. Place rounds 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Using a sharp knife, cut six 1/2-inch slits from the edges toward the center of each round to form flower petals.
Bake for 7 to 8 minutes or until centers are set and edges just start to brown. Immediately press a gumdrop into the center of each cookie. Cool on cookie sheet for 2 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack; cool.
To Store: Layer cookies between sheets of waxed paper in an airtight container; cover. Store at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
