Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325˚ F.
Remove the ham from the wrapper and lightly rinse with water. Trim away skin (if any) to expose fat then Carefully make slits on the surface forming diamonds over the fat being careful not to score to deep.
Place ham in a roasting pan and cover with foil tightly. Bake according to the weight of the ham. You just want to heat through, do not over bake but the tightly fitting foil should keep the ham moist.
Meanwhile in a pot or small saucepan combine all ingredients for the glaze and bring to a simmer and until reduced to syrup consistency (10-15 min.) Do not let the liquid caramelize or harden, if this happens you need to start over again.
An hour before removing the ham, remove foil and baste the ham with the glaze every ten-fifteen minutes.
Remove from the oven.
If leftover glaze pour over the pineapple, or set it on a small bowl on the table as dressing.
One more thing – do not discard the bone. Save it for stock, soup or beans.
