Ingredients
- Sauce:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 2 to 4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 to 2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 cups apples (finely chopped)
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup half & half
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Cook together over low heat stirrng constantly until mixture coats spoon.

Preparation
Step 1
Cream sugar and butter, add beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and add to batter. Add apples and nuts.
Bake in greased and floured 9x13 pan for 1 hour.
Bake @ 350 degrees for 15 mins. and at 300 degrees for the last 45 mins. Serve with warm sauce.
This recipe best if you use plenty of nuts and chop the apples very fine. The cake may be frozen and the sauce may be prepared ahead and then rewarmed.
Both cake and sauce should be warm when served.
