Ingredients

  • 2 oz/55g butter
  • 8 oz/225g SR flour
  • pinch salt
  • 1 oz/25g caster sugar
  • 150 ml/5 fl oz milk

Step 1

Heat oven to 425F. Mix together the salt, flour and butter. Stir in the caster sugar and then the milk until you get soft dough. Turn the dough onto a floured work area and knead lightly.

Pat to a round 3/4" thick, and using a 2in cutter, stamp out rounds and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Knead together the rest of the dough and stamp out more scones.

Brush the tops of the scones with a little milk. Base for 12-15 minutes until well risen and golden.
