  • 1 stick butter or margarine -- melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • GLAZE
  • 1 1/3 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 Tablespoons multicolor nonpareil sprinkles

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375.

Mix together melted butter, sugar, vanilla and eggs until blended. Add flour, baking powder and salt and mix until just combined (do not overmix).

Using a scoop, portion out balls of dough and place on parchment lined cookie sheets, 2" apart. Bake until puffed and the bottoms are pale golden, about 7 to 8 minutes. Transfer to rack to cool completely.

Make the glaze: Whisk together the confectioners sugar, 2 tablespoons of water, and vanilla until the mixture forms a thick but pourable glaze (add more water if necessary).

Dip the tops of each cookie into glaze, let it set for few seconds and dip into sprinkles.
