  • 5 Tablespoons margarine
  • 5 Tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup hot liquid (milk, water, broth)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 pound mushroom -- sliced
  • 1 small onion -- diced

Step 1

Melt margarine, and add mushrooms and onions. Add flour to make a smooth paste. Add the liquid all at once, stir in one direction only. cook until sauce begins to boil and thickens. Lower flame and simmer 2 to 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
