- 1 t canola oil
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 3 t packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 c balsamic

Step 1
1) heat oil in md skillet over md heat until shimmering. add onion, sugar, salt and pepper and cook stirring til softened, about 3 minutes.
2) add vinegar and bring to a boil. reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring often, until vinegar has a syrupy consistency and has reduced to a cup, about 30 minutes.
great with chicken, pork, swordfish and veggies
