Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups packed, brown sugar
- 1 tbls. cornstarch
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbls. baking powder
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 3 cups, peeled tart apples
- 1 tbls. sugar
- 1/2 tssp. cinnamon

Preparation
Step 1
Mix brown sugar, cornstarch, 1/8 tsp. salt. Add 2 cups of cold water. Cook until bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 min.
Add 1 tsp. vanilla and 2 tbsp. butter. Pour onto 13x9x2" pan. Combine flour, 1/4 cup gran. sugar, baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt. Cut in shortening. Stir in apples. Stir in milk and remaining vanilla until moist. Drop by spoon on top syrup. Conbine gran. sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle on top. Dot with remaining butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 min.
