Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 large egg
- 6 Tablespoons light corn syrup
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 3 cups quick cooking oats (or old fashioned oats pulsed in a food processor)
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Preheat oven to 375. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream together the butter, shortening, sugars, extracts, spices, salt, and baking soda, beating until fairly smooth. Beat in egg, scraping the bowl, then beat in the corn syrup and milk. Stir in the oats, flour, raisins and nuts.
Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto baking sheets. Bake the cookies for 11 minutes until light golden brown. Transfer to rack to cool.
