Ingredients

  • 2 Cups of SHIFTED Flour
  • 1 teas baking soda
  • 1 teas salt
  • 1 Cup butter or margarine
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 Squares unsweetened chocolate melted
  • 1 teas Vanilla extract
  • 1 Cup mashed potatoes
  • 3/4 Cup sour milk or buttermilk

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375. Shift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside. Cream together the butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mix and beat thoroughly after each egg. Add melted chocolate, vanilla and mashed potatoes. Mix well. Add flour mixture alternately with sour milk blending well after each addition. Grease and flour baking pans.
Bake 2 - 8 inch round baking pans for 55 minutes, a 9 inch tube pan for 1 hour, or a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan for 45 minutes.
Inserted toothpick should come out clean when done.
