  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 Tablespoons instant yeast
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • FILLING
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter -- softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • GLAZE
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk

Step 1

S[ray a 9 x 13 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together water and yeast and let stand 2-3 minutes. Stir in cake mix, bread flour, and half of regular flour on slow speed until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes, adding in more flour as required. Cover and let rise until doubled, 30-45 minutes.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out to a 15 by 20 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter evenly over dough. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll into a log and cut into one inch slices. Place the pieces in the pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, 60-90 minutes or in the refrigerator overnight.

Preheat oven to 350. Bake until lightly browned, 30-35 minutes and center seems baked, but not dry around edges. Cool and drizzle with glaze.
