Ingredients
- Cake
- 2 cups butter
- 2/3 cups cocoa
- 2 cups water
- 4 cups Dixie Crystals granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Icing
- 2 pkgs (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 4 boxes (1 lb each) Dixie Crystals confectioners sugar
- 3/4 heavy cream
- 1 Tbsp vanilla
- 3/4 cup cocoa

Step 1
Cake
Heat butter, cocoa and water just to a boil. Remove from heat. Pour into sugar, blend well. Whisk flour with baking soda and salt. Stir into batter. Glend in sour cream. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla, blend smooth. Divide batter between 2 greased and floured cake pans (6x3 and 9x3), each about 2/3's full. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven about 80 minutes (small tier) to 95 minutes (large tier) or until wooden pick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes, loosen and turn onto rack to complete cooling.
Icing
Blend cream cheese with confectioners sugar. Add cream and vanilla, beat smooth. Blend in cocoa.
