  • 7 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 3/4 cup unsalted margarine
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325. Grease an 8" springform pan.

Melt chocolate and margarine in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Stir until smooth. Whisk eggs, sugar and coffee into chocolate mixture. Pour batter into prepared pan. Place pan in larger baking pan and fill halfway with hot water. Bake until knife inserted in the center comes out clean, about 1 1/2 hours.

Remove cake from water bath and cool. Refrigerate. Can be prepared one week ahead. Keep refrigerated.
