Ingredients
- 2 cups dried pinto beans
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 5 clove of garlic, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup dried parsley
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 2 tbsp dried basil
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- dash of red pepper
- 2 bay leaves

Preparation
Step 1
Soak beans according to package directions. After soaking, place in a large dutch oven. Add all other ingredients to the pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer 3 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally. Add water if necessary to keep beans covered.
