Preparation
Step 1
Cook lean hamburger, drain and add to large soup pot
Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and water. (I used 1 can of water for each large can of sauce or tomatoes)
Add diced or sliced onion.
Meanwhile, cook 1 1/2 cups of ziti noodles per pkg. directions, drain & set aside.
After soup has cooked an hour or so, start adding frozen & canned vegetables. Add cooked ziti noodes the last thing. Check density of soup and add more water if necessary. Cook a little longer. Add salt & pepper to taste. Serve.
Because of tomato sauce, this soup liquid tends to get thicker as it cooks down, so each time I warm up an individual bowl, I add a little more water - usually no more than 1/3 cup per bowl.
