Ingredients

  • For Fry Bread:

  • 2

    c flour

  • 1

    tbs baking powder

  • 1

    tsp salt

  • 1

    c milk

  • 4

    c oil, for frying

  • Toppings:

  • 1

    lb ground beef

  • 1

    tbs taco seasoning

  • 1-15 oz can ranch style beans

  • 1

    c shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2

    c shredded lettuce

  • 1/4

    c chopped onions

  • Other toppings:

  • sour cream

  • picante

  • guacamole

Directions

In lrg skillet cook beef with taco seasoning mix over med high heat. Once the meat has browned turn heat down and add beans. Cook until the mixture is heated through. cover, and keep warm while you prepare the fry bread. In med bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk, and mix until the dough comes together. You may need more flour in order to handle the dough, knead the dough until smooth on a floured surface. Let it rest 5 mins. Heat oil in lrg deep heavy skillet to 365 degrees, Iuk sgiykd be at keast 1 1/2" deep. Cut dough into 4-5 equal parts and flatten each part out into a thin tortilla sized circle. Fry breads in the oil until golden on both sides, turn once. Drain on paper towels. Top each with beans, beef, lettuce, cheese and whatever other toppings you want.
