Citrus Cranberry Sauce

Cyndi made this during her visit Christmas 2009. It's the first cranberry sauce that Alex liked instead of the canned stuff. It has consistency similar to canned sauce, but much fresher flavor.

Citrus Cranberry Sauce 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. bag fresh cranberries
  • 1 can (11 oz.) mandarin oranges, lightly drained
  • 1 can (20 oz.) pineapple, crushed or chunks, lightly drained
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 orange curl for garnish

Preparation

Step 1

In a medium saucepan,combine all ingredients except orange rind.

Cook over medium heat 15 to 20 minutes,stirring requently, until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.Remove from heat, cover and chill.

Can be prepared up to 2 days ahead.

Serve in compote with orange slice garnish.
