Ingredients
- 2 cakes yeast
- 1 c. lukewarm water
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 c. lukewarm milk
- 5 tsp. salt
- 13 c. flour
- 5 Tbsp. shortening

Preparation
Step 1
Dissolve yeast in water and to it add 1 tsp. sugar - let stand 10 minutes.
In bowl - add milk, remaining sugar and salt. Add dissolved yeast mixture.
Add all but 1 cup of the flour and shortening. Start mixing with spoon and finish mixing with your hands. Add remaining flour if needed. Turn dough onto lightly floured board and knead. Place in greased bowl and cover. Allow to rise until double in bulk. Punch down and allow to rise again. Remove from bowl, punch down and divide dough in 4 equal parts. Shape, place in pans and allow to stand until double in bulk. Bake 375 deg. for I hour. Remove frcm pan.
