Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Crisco
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (about 1 ounce)
  • FUDGE GLAZE
  • 6 ounces chocolate chips
  • 3 Tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1 Tablespoon confectioner's sugar

Preparation

Step 1

On medium speed, mix the flour, shortening, sugar and baking soda Add the egg. Mix until dough forms.

Melt the chocolate chips. With a knife, cut the melted chocolate into the dough, swirling the best you can. Using parchment or waxed paper, roll the dough into 3 logs, each about the size of a salami or 2 1/2 to 3 inch diameter. Freeze 1/2 to 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350. Spray 2 cookie sheets with nonstick spray or line with parchment paper. Slice each log into 12-15 cookies. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Cool on a rack.
