Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine -- softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups (16- ounce can) chocolate syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • raspberry cream center
  • chocolate glaze

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9x2 - inch baking pan.

Combine flour, sugar, butter, baking powder and eggs in large bowl. Beat until smooth.

Add syrup and blend thoroughly. Pour batter in prepared pan.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

Make raspberry cream: Combine 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine and 2 T. raspberry flavored liqueur. Beat until smooth. (Substitute 1/4 cup raspberry preserves for the raspberry liqueur). Spread raspberry cream center on cake. Cover; refrigerate.

Make chocolate glaze: Melt 6 T. margarine with 1 cup chocolate chips over low heat Remove from heat and stir until smooth. Pour chocolate glaze over chilled dessert. Cover; refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.
