Granny's Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• Cream together: 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar
• Blend in: 1 medium whole egg (or 2 small yolks) at room temperature
• Sift together and then add to mixture: 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. baking powder and 2 cups sifted flour. Blend into mixture: 1 tsp. vanilla and refrigerate.

Preparation

Step 1

Place in plastic wrap and refrigerate. Roll out on a lightly floured board. Cut with lightly floured cookie cutters and bake on lightly greased cookie sheet in 400 degree pre-heated oven for 8-10 minutes.

For extra sparkle and color, glaze cookies using this simple recipe:
3/4 cup sifted confectioner's sugar, 3 - 4 tsp. water and food coloring.

While cookies are warm brush with glaze.
