Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter cold, cut in 3 pieces
- 1/3 cup vegetable shortening solid
- 1 egg large
- 3 tablespoons water cold

Step 1
In a small bowl, mix flour and salt. With a pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a small bowl, beat egg with water; sprinkle over the top of the crumb mixture and toss with a fork until uniformly moistened. Add 1 more teaspoon water if too dry. Press dough firmly into a ball. Roll out for pie crust.
