Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter, melted an cooled
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1 ts vanilla
  • 1 ts cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds

Preparation

Step 1

Combine sugar and butter with a wooden spoon. Add egg yolk, cinnamon, vanilla and salt. Beat flour in gradually.

Turn into an 11 by 16 jelly roll pan, spread evenly with a spatula.
Whisk egg white slightly. Spread on batter with your hands, smoothing as you go. Sprinkle the almonds over the batter.

Bake at 325° for 25 minutes. Cool slightly. Make 3 vertical cuts and 5 vertical cuts to make 24 rectangles. Cut diagonally across the rectangles to make triangles.
