Ingredients
- Mentsuyu sauce:
- 1 lb block firm tofu, pressed
- potato starch
- oil for frying
- ..............................................
- 3/4 cup dashi
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp sake
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 3/4 tsp sugar

Preparation
Step 1
Cut pressed tofu into 2" cubes and blot dry.
Coat in potato starch and set aside.
Heat 2 to 3 inches of oil in deep fryer.
To make sauce, bring all ingredients to a boil. Cook 1 minute and turn off heat. Keep warm.
Deep fry tofu and drain.
Place the fried tofu in a late and top with grated daikon or grated ginger or sliced green onions or dried fish flakes.
