Ingredients

  • 1 pkg (4 oz) Baker's German's Sweet Chocolate
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • *Coconut-Pecan Frosting

Preparation

Step 1

Microwave* chocolate and margarine in large microwavable bowl on HIGH 2 minutes or until margarine is melted. STIR UNTIL CHOCOLATE IS COMPLETELY MELTED.

Range* Melt chocolate and margarine in 3 quart saucepan over very low heat; stir constantly until just melted. Remove from heat.

Stir in sugar unti well blended. With electric mixer at low speed, beat in eggs, one at a time, until completely mixed. Add vanilla. Beat in 1/2 cup of the flour, the baking soda and salt. Beat in remaining flour alternately with buttermilk until well blended and smooth. Pour into greased 13 x 9 inch pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

Frost with Coconut-Pecan Frosting.
